This is one of mine. Monday brings the most wonderful holiday in these United States. A day that is reserved to honor your blood, sweat, and tears with a bar-b-que and a beer. However, here in Eaglerockville we will start our work week (on Monday) with a mammoth staff meeting - guaranteed to never end, ever. Nevertheless, I am ready to get back to work and hang with the chillun.

My break (this is the euphemism used to describe time allotted to organize your life before you forget everyone and everything during the trimester at Eagle Rock) was packed with events and in the aftermath I'm not sure if I really did anything. I do know that in past three weeks I managed to film and attend the wedding of Lan To and ANdy Artz, move into a new place in Estes Park, visit chicago for three days, attend another wedding in Cleveland of a camp friend and his soul mate (of course this trip to the midwest consisted solely of solo driving), get a root canal - one word, PAINFUL (this was a root canal that I needed a year and a half ago, and finally I spent some time with my sister Donna (pictured above). Somewhere in there I pretended to plan for classes and read up on my Chicano and immigration history.

This trimester I am only teaching two courses - Off the Boat, a study of immigration to the United States and its current affect on our population and The Chicafrican Story, a comparitive look at Chicano and African-American history. I will also welcome a new fellow to the Social Studies Department, Daniel Alvarez, who I ahve yet to meet, but am excited to work with for the next year. Other than the above, there area million other things to write about - all in due time.

Holla.

That is not a mispelling of Hola, but a slang spelling of the word "holler." The conotation of this slang is for the recipient of such endearment (you) to holler back at me. Now, holler back implies that I have indeed hollered at you. Hollered at you in the sense that I have gotten in touch with you, but not in the sense that I have told you to take out the trash for the tenth time this week. So, hopefully I will hear from you soon.

- Donnie.

Hello!

What up urrrbody! Welcome to my little blog site. If you didn't already know, I work at Eagle Rock School. While there are many jobs that may be harder, I would argue that few keep you as busy as being a part of this communtiy. In order to combat the craziness that is my schedule I started this little site to store some updates about what's new in my world [or just some thoughts about what I think about what is new in OUR world]. So, I hope folks find this spot a little helpful, a little interesting, and a lot of fun. Hope to hear from everyone soon. Until...
